Mission Statement
The mandate of PIRS is to ensure that immigrant women and their preschool aged children can participate fully in Canadian community life.
Description
Pacific Immigrant Resources Society (PIRS) is a non profit agency that has been providing neighborhood based group programs for immigrant and refugee women and their young children since 1975. These outreach programs provide isolated immigrant and refugee women with opportunities to learn about Canadian society and institutions and to develop the knowledge, skills and confidence needed to access community resources and services and to function more independently and effectively in their roles as family and community members. On site childcare programs enable and support the participation of women with young children, provide opportunities to address issues related to child development and parenting in a muliticultural society, and support the language and social development of ESL preschoolers.
