Based in Toronto under the direction of harpsichordist/conductor Ashiq Aziz, the CMC pursues a variety of projects designed to promote and attract new audiences to classical music, including concert performance, commissioning of new work and staged opera.
 
A major program of the CMC is the Underground /Opera series, produced in conjunction with the avant-garde performance company Opera Erratica, lead by the director and artist Patrick Eakin Young. These challenging productions are a contemporary mash-up of the old with the new, combining classical music performed on period instruments with modern staging, video projections, dance, art and fashion.
