About STEPHENVILLE THEATRE FESTIVAL
Founded in 1979, STF has enriched the economic and cultural fabric of the Town of Stephenville and become a major draw for tourism. As well, STF has provided training and hands-on experience for numerous artists, many of whom are now counted among Canada’s top professional artists.
For the past 30 years, Stephenville Theatre Festival has been widely recognized for having made a substantial contribution to the development of theatre in Newfoundland. The Festival creates employment for a significant number of individuals and attracts a large tourist audience. These factors make it a significant economic generator for the Town of Stephenville and surrounding area. The Festival also adds substantially to the social and cultural well-being of the Town.
The longevity of STF can be directly attributed to the fact that it is truly a community project…created by, for, and with the community it calls home. It is a unique vision which is built into the community.
