The mission of the YWCA is to build our community be engaging and supporting women of all ages to participate fully in life, both as individuals and as valued members of their communities.
To advance its’ mission, the YWCA:
- focuses on providing programs and services for families, and women and young women at critical turning points in their lives
- is a strong voice for equality, a strong voice for women.

Description
Halifax YWCA is a turning point for women. We have served women, young women, and families since 1874. Today the Halifax YWCA provides the following core services:
Child Care & Early Learning: Full service child care, RECESS Program aimed at increasing the physical activity of children
Housing - WISH: Women in Supported Housing. 24 units of supported housing for formerly homeless women
Health Promotion - ENCORE after breast cancer exercise program, smoking cessation for expectant and new mothers
Youth Development - Leadership development programs for young women in 3 locations
The Halifax YWCA believes in the power of women to achieve, and a world where women are equal participants and designers of their community, country and world.
