Description

Opera Lyra Ottawa (Opera Lyra) is a major Canadian opera company with a 29-year history of success in the National Capital Region. Opera Lyra is a not-for-profit organization governed by a Board of Directors under the distinguished patronage of The Right Honourable Beverley McLachlin. Opera Lyra is the largest independent arts organization in the National Capital Region.

Established in 1984, Opera Lyra now presents two fully staged, professional operas annually at the Southam Hall of the National Arts Centre, as well as small-scale operas or concerts each season. The company has demonstrated unprecedented support in its short history and has grown from a grass-roots organization into the Nation's Capital opera company.

Renowned Canadian conductor Tyrone Paterson is the Artistic Director for Opera Lyra Ottawa.
