Mission Statement
At Moorelands, we recognize the inherent value of children and youth. We work with Toronto's children affected by poverty, to provide them with positive and fun experiences to help strengthen their confidence, competence, and character - because every kid deserves life success!
Description
Since 1912, Moorelands has been helping reshape the future for Toronto's kids affected by poverty. Moorelands has changed a lot since its inception, but making a difference in the lives of children and youth has remained its first priority. Moorelands accomplishes its mission by offering year-round programming to kids in need. Our two key programs include - CITY PROGRAMS (after-school, youth leadership, city summer day camp) and WILDERNESS CAMP. Currently, we work with over 1,600 children and youth each year through these programs as well as through Baby Bundles (for newborns) and Christmas Sharing (supporting needy families during the holidays).
In the city, Moorelands runs its programs in the under-served Toronto neighbourhoods of Thorncliffe Park and Flemingdon Park. Our City Programs are offered in partnership with local schools and/or community groups providing a supportive, nurturing environment.
