Mission Statement

Founded in 1999, the Community Foundation of Whistler is an independent, charitable organization dedicated to improving the quality of community life in the Sea to Sky Corridor. We manage over 3.0 million dollars in donor funds and distribute the income to registered charities for community projects. We belong to the Community Foundations of Canada a group of 165 Foundations across Canada.

The CFOW vision is to improve the quality of life by enabling, demonstrating and encouraging philanthropy in Whistler and beyond.

Description

The Community Foundation of Whistler creates and manages permanent endowment funds that are held in perpetuity, from which only the investment income is distributed. While individual gifts may be used to establish a separate fund, the funds are pooled with all other gifts into a common, professionally managed portfolio in order to maximize potential income and minimize administrative expenses.
At the request of donors, a gift to a particular group or area of interest may be designated to be paid directly to that group or area of interest for immediate use, rather than contributing to the permanent endowment.
The SHARE WHISTLER campaign encourages donors to direct their gifts in this way, for the immediate benefit of community groups.
