Mission Statement
Springboard Performance's mandate is to enrich and nourish contemporary physical practices, removing boundaries between genres with clustered festival programming, creative-residencies, creation, workshops, discussions, performances, and outdoor happenings. Springboard is a Calgary-based non-profit society with over 22 years of producing and presenting physical contemporary creation for stage and screen. Springboard continues to inspire and connect artists and audiences by deepening understanding of art and ideas with new ways of seeing and responding to contemporary life. Under the artistic direction of Nicole Mion, Springboard maintains three activities:
· Fluid Movement Arts Festival: contemporary performance and dance festival of regional, national, and international artists.
· Interrarium creation residency: is a multidisciplinary platform for professional local through international artists that explores and reveals contemporary performance practices, held annually at the Banff Centre for the Arts.
· Creation and Dissemination of Artistic Director Nicole Mion’s vision of interdisciplinary performance for stage and screen including dance, theatre, new media and installation.
