As an Artist Run Centre, founded on artistic autonomy, the Forest City Gallery is committed to excellence in programming, exhibitions and events that reflect and address recent developments in cultural production. We serve as a forum for local, regional, national and international emergent artists through the presentation of relevant contemporary practices in visual/media arts, performance, literature and music.

Description

Established in 1973, Forest City Gallery was founded by local artists on the principles of artistic autonomy and a celebration of its regional context. Throughout our 34 years the Forest City Gallery, its membership and board have continued to define and reflect the evolving cultural climate of the regions’ diverse communities. The gallery continues as a venue for critical thought and dialogue through a commitment to culturally relevant and ambitious exhibitions, lectures, screenings, performances, publications and events.
