To initiate, develop and produce new Canadian operas which reflect our contemporary reality. To provide singers with the vocal and dramatic skills with which to address this reality. To facilitate national and international performance of these operas.

Description

Queen of Puddings initiates, develops and produces new Canadian chamber opera/music-theatre works which challenge historical boundaries and traditions. Our aim is to create new opera models that reflect our contemporary culture. We work solely with Canadian artists. The singer is the central force in our performance aesthetic and we integrate the instrumentalists into the dramatic action. The artistic directors shape the artistic vision for the company and the artistic programming directly reflects this vision. Within that structure, our current priority is to gain a foothold for our all-Canadian opera productions in international festivals that program this kind of work and recognition as one of the world’s leaders in pioneering new opera forms.
