Description

The John Howard Society is an organization of citizens who accept responsibility for understanding and dealing with the problems of crime and the criminal justice system.

The philosophy and operation of the John Howard Society is based on the following assumptions:

• Crime is a fact of social living
• Crime threatens the safety, well-being and freedom of the community

The John Howard Society, therefore, accepts responsibility to provide and develop services through the community to reduce the social and economic costs of crime.
The John Howard Society of London is a non-governmental community agency. Its primary objective is to contribute to the social well-being of the community through services to individuals and groups of individuals who, as a result of personal and family problems, social alienation and conflicts, are, or may become, involved in the criminal justice system.
