Dedicated to building a new, younger audience for classical music, Art of Time promotes the popular sensibilities inherent in the music of serious composers such as Schoenberg, Prokofiev and Brahms, by creating programs that include a mixture of classical and popular music genres as well as jazz, dance, literature and theatre.
Art of Time is known as one of Toronto’s most innovative and artistically sound chamber music ensembles. Artistic Director Andrew Burashko programs concerts that bridge classical repertoire with work created and performed by Canadian artists from the world of theatre, dance, literature, jazz and popular music. The Ensemble’s distinguished core Canadian artists include violinists Erika Raum, Mark Fewer and Stephen Sitarski; violist Steven Dann; cellist Thomas Wiebe; double bassist Joel Quarrington; pianist Andrew Burshko; saxophonist/composer Phil Dywer, and jazz guitarist Rob Piltch. Other collaborators included actor Ted Dykstra; Peggy Baker, jazz/pop singer Martin Tielli (Rheostatics), Sarah Slean, Steven Page and many more. Advisory Board includes Peggy Baker, Bruce Cockburn, Phil Dwyer, Ted Dykstra, Karen Kain, Paul Quarrington, and Pinchas Zukerman. Return to artoftimeensemble.com for more detailed information.
