Incorporated in 1975, le Centre culturel francophone de Vancouver has for its mandate, as it is stipulated in its status and by-laws:
- To organize shows in French and exhibitions of the work of Francophone and Francophile artists to cultivate an appreciation for the arts among Vancouverites. (For example: exhibitions, music concert series, festivals, etc.)
- To promote education by offering French-language educational services and programs to residents of the Vancouver metropolitan area (library, video library, language courses, summer camp, etc.)
- To promote public participation in the Centre's activities.
- To acquire and manage the property required for the Centre's activities.
Le Centre culturel francophone de Vancouver is a fully recognized arts presenter with quality year-round programming that is unique, and which would otherwise be unavailable on such a scale to Vancouver audiences without Le Centre's contribution. Le Centre presents quality professional performances in French. The population of the Greater Vancouver Area can access Francophone language and culture through artistic products in visual, media and performing arts. Le Centre also offers educational services to both Francophones and Francophiles.
