Mission Statement

The mandate of the Character Community Foundation of York Region is to promote positive character development throughout York Region-including families, neighbourhoods, school boards, businesses and local government.
The Foundations work is focused on achieving two objectives:

1. Education
Provide tools and resources to enhance character development across all sectors of the community.

2. Promotion & Awareness
Promote the importance of demonstrating character and share promising practices across all sectors of the community.

The Character Community Foundation promotes 11 attributes:
Compassion,Courage,Fairness,Honesty,
Inclusiveness,Initiative,Integrity,
Optimism, Perseverance,Respect and Responsibility

We practice and promote a simple but important philosophy...that when people and communities embrace living with character,we can change the world we live in for the better.
The Foundation works in partnership with members of the York Region community to host public events and develop promotional materials that promote living, learning, working and playing with character.

The Character Community of York Region is the first registered Character Community charity in Canada.
