Mission Statement
St. Leonard’s Society of Winnipeg, Inc. is a Manitoba-based non-profit, driven by a desire to reduce the incidence of crime by improving opportunities for community involvement in criminal justice; and demonstrating effective interventions that achieve satisfying, just, and peaceful outcomes for the community.
Description
Incorporated in 2007 by a group of Winnipeg citizens concerned with improving the quality of justice for victims, offenders and community members in our city, the St. Leonard’s Society of Winnipeg is a registered Canadian charity.
We are currently fundraising to establish Candace House to serve as a safe, comfortable, friendly home where victims can connect with others who are on a journey toward healing, seeking timely information, nourishment & encouragement. ALL DONATIONS DESIGNATED FOR CANDACE HOUSE WILL BE APPLIED TO THIS PROJECT. ANY UNUSED DONATIONS WILL BE DIRECTED ONLY TO CHARITABLE VICTIM SERVICES.
See www.candacehouse.ca for more info.
We are also undertaking an innovative project in Stony Mountain Penitentiary, known as the Paying Forward Project, that engages victims, offenders and community members in exploring what it means to make amends for harms caused, encouraging accountability beyond simply “paying a debt to society” by sitting in a prison cell.
