Mission Statement

Healthy Minds Canada (HMC)is a national charitable organization founded in 1980 to raise and distribute funds for mental health and addiction research in Canada.

Description

HMC is volunteer-driven with a full-time staff of three, overseen by a volunteer Board of Directors and a Professional Advisory Board of senior Canadian researchers.

Each year, the Professional Advisory Board carefully evaluates research grant applications to ensure that quality projects are recommended for funding. To date, HMC has provided more than 11 million dollars to support more than 50 research projects in 42 different institutions.

Our education and knowledge translation program ensures that the knowledge we gain from funded research gets to those who need it most. The knowledge and awareness that this education provides helps to eradicate the stigma associated with devastating mental illness.
