The Halton Youth Symphony's mission is to inspire, encourage and challenge young musicians to build their musical skills through the experience of various forms of orchestral music. We strive to create an enjoyable environment that promotes teamwork, leadership and community involvement.
The Halton Youth Symphony, based in the Halton Region of Southern Ontario, was founded in 1975. It consists of two orchestras: the Halton Youth Chamber Orchestra, a string orchestra of musicians aged 9 to 13 and the Halton Youth Symphony Orchestra, a full symphony orchestra of musicians aged 13 to 20.
Our musicians learn to play their instruments with greater skill, develop discipline and appreciate the expertise and teamwork required to perform orchestral works.
We present at least three public concerts annually. We instill a strong sense of community in our musicians through our Ambassador Program which sees our musicians perform at community, civic, corporate and private events.
Our orchestras compete regularly in local, national, and international orchestra competitions.
Your donations will help us to keep enrollment costs manageable for all talented young musicians regardless of financial standing.
