About WILDLIFE CANADA SOCIETY

Established in 2008, WildAid Canada Society was an independent and autonomous associate of the American based charity, WildAid. Both organizations worked on similar international projects to stem illegal wildlife trade and protect species in peril. WildAid Canada fought to end the use of shark-fin soup in Canada, built a ranger station in Uganda and trained sniffer dogs to track poachers in Tanzania.

Recently, WildAid in the United States has restructured and part of their plan was to ask WildAid Canada to no longer use their name. So, we have now become WildLife Canada SocietyOur mission has not changed and our determination has not lessened. We are still protecting the world’s most diverse reef ecosystem in Indonesia and we still fight for the remaining few red wolves in North Carolina. We funded the radio tagging of manta rays in the Ceram Sea, bought a patrol boat for the Misool Foundation in Raja Ampat and protected pangolins in Vietnam.

We have also focused on Canadian Wildlife by helping to curb the killing of wolves in BC and are working to change the Alberta policy of shooting orphaned grizzly bear cubs instead of rehabbing them for release back into the wild. We are supporting the creation of a conservation area for caribou, and helping to change cruel and outdated trapping rules in Canada. Our most exciting project is exploring the viability of reintroducing muskoxen into northern Manitoba.

WildLife Canada Society was founded by Charles Fipke who changed the economy of Canada when he discovered diamonds in the Northwest Territories. He is dedicated to finding a balance between economic development and a sustainable environment.
