Our mission is to ensure that no child, youth or parent feels alone in their grief. COPES stands for "Connecting Others, Providing Education & Support."We create safe, compassionate, and creative spaces for children & their families to learn about grief and connect with others in similar circumstances. We believe in the transformative power of communities to nurture healing and hope. We believe that through a caring community, families will learn to cope in healthy ways following loss. We use holistic and evidence-informed approaches that support the mental health needs of grieving children, youth and parents who have lost a child/sibling or parent. We have a special program that focuses on the grief support needs of those experiencing infant and pregnancy loss. Our evidence-informed approaches include art therapy, music therapy, recreation, animal therapy & mindfulness. Peer mentors work alongside grief therapists/facilitators to inform all aspects of the program.
