Captivenia "Slow Bottle Drive" Fundraiser 2019 (Emily Price)

Captivenia is a medieval adventure camp designed specifically for girls. It has been crafted as a safe haven for them to come and discover who they truly are as women, made in the image and likeness of God. To do this, the camp uses parable to foster an encounter with Christ the King through the mystique and the mystery of the characters, the story and the world itself. Every effort is made to make the world as realistic as possible including the use of a ridiculous amount of fog, the occasional flaming sword and the oh-so-anticipated water-balloon battle against the forces of darkness.  

For me, discovering this camp was one of those rare moments where you find a thing that you never thought could exist. Its also happens to be the thing that, in the most particular way, was both made for you, and you for it.  

I came to Captivenia at a vulnerable point in my life, just at the beginning of my re-version to the Catholic faith. It was here, hidden in the mountains and surrounded by the most poignant beauty I have ever experienced, that God came to find me. And he succeeded. Through the witness of the epic characters, the transcendence of the storyline, the gentle love of the team, and the listening ears of the Priests and the Consecrated women, I found a life and a joy that I had not felt in a long time. 

I want this camp to continue to do the same for other women and girls like myself. My greatest desire is to see all who pass into the realm of Captivenia fully alive in their identity as a beloved daughter of the King. I want to see them living life to its fullest, without fear and without shame. I want to see them discover their unique beauty and to delight in the way that God has created them.
