Quest’s mandate is to rescue food from being sent to landfills and to redistribute it, through donation to those in need throughout our community.
Quest is British Columbia’s only food exchange program. Our innovative approach to rescuing food and reducing hunger involves collecting and distributing quality food – overstock, mislabelled, or near-expired products that would otherwise go to waste — and redirecting it to those in need via four food-assistance programs. By diverting food from the landfill and composting what can no longer be consumed, Quest also contributes to a healthier, greener environment while alleviating hunger and building community.
Quest receives a wide variety of food from our donors for various reasons ranging from seasonality and mislabeling,to over-supply, blemished produce, near perishable date and over-production. The type of food also varies, and includes dairy products, carbohydrates (pasta, rice, grains and bread), fresh/canned fruits & vegetables, as well as meat & soy products.
