Through advocating, supporting and caring, we enhance the ability of our members to continue to improve the quality and length of life of those infected and affected by HIV and to prevent the spread of HIV.
Founded in 1986, the Ontario AIDS Network (OAN) is a province-wide coalition of 53 diverse community-based organizations working to establish a just and effective response to HIV/AIDS. The history of the community-based AIDS movement is one of affected peoples supporting one another through the epidemic and the potentially devastating impact on People who have HIV/AIDS and their families and friends.
The OAN engages in public policy development in support of and in collaboration with its member groups on initiatives such as sustainable funding, appropriate legislative and public policy response to the epidemic, and access to affordable and appropriate treatment for all persons living with HIV/AIDS in the province, as well as provides capacity-building opportunities.
