To enhance the ability to learn by insuring that each student attends school well nourished.
When a youth's stomach is empty, everything else is secondary. Students arriving at school hungry do not perform well in the classroom, have difficulty concentrating, display behavioural problems, are less alert and often lethargic. Student nutrition programs impact the physical, emotional social, cognitive, behavioural and academic needs of children and youth.
Breakfast provides the necessary energy and essential nutrients needed to achieve a student's potential at school.
In 2011-2012, Nutrition for Learning will provide student nutrition programs for 12,000 unique children throughout the year in Waterloo Region. Challenging economic times and rising food costs continue to present an obstacle for school nutrition programs already operating on a tight budget.
We invite you to directly impact the future of children and youth in Waterloo Region.
