CPG's four areas of focus include health care, education, food security and life skills development with the goal of changing lives, one community at a time.</p>\n</div>\n<h3>Description</h3>\n<p>CPG was started in 1994 when Sylvia and Stephen Scott began working with local leaders in Matangwe, Kenya to plan the development of a local health clinic. In Canada the Canadian Development Agency, local service clubs, church groups, and health care agencies helped to secure donations of funds, equipment and medicines. 1996 the community at Matangwe broke ground for the clinic and the first patient was treated in 2001.</p>\n<p>Since that time the dream of a health clinic has morphed into a bustling community. The clinic is now a hospital, providing inpatient, outpatient and outreach services. In 2023 a new maternity wing was opened and includes a surgical suite and cesarean section suite. This allows high risk patients to receive their care close to home. I</p>\n<p>n 2006, a student sponsorship program commenced and to date over 250 children, most of whom are orphans, have been given the gift of learning. This is supported by a school lunch program to support enhanced learning.</p>\n<p>A food security program focuses on clean water and demonstration farm projects to assist the local community learn new sustainable agricultural practices.</p>\n<p>As a charitable organization we rely on donors like you. Rare Diseases Impact more people than AIDS and cancer combined. Approximately 50% of the people affected by rare diseases are children; 30% of children with rare disease will not live to see their 5th birthday.</p>\r\n<p>With your assistance we are able to help community members get the support they need and meet others with the same symptoms or conditions who can relate to them. They can learn to be a part of the community around their disability, know they are not alone and are able to get the support they deserve to be the healthiest version of themselves. We educate the public for a better understanding of individuals who might be different or do things differently. </p>\r\n<p>Through donations, membership and partnership, we are able to honour our
