Under this new name, we are freer to expand the narrative of this place to encompass the many diverse histories of the land. Stories of the North-West Mounted Police and Fort Calgary help to define this place and will always be a part of the narrative here, but there are other important stories to be told, too. At The Confluence, storytelling is liberated, and history is an open and welcoming book.</p>\r\n<p>Now as The Confluence Historic Site & Parkland we welcome the many stories the come from the diverse people that call this place home. Long before the North-West Mounted Police arrived in 1875, Indigenous peoples have been gathering on this land from time immemorial. The shift from colonization to industrialization also brought a new wave of settlers with different worldviews. While some celebrate this land as the birthplace of Calgary and an icon of national pride, others recount stories of hardship under colonial rule.</p>\r\n<p>This is our layered history, and every story makes it complete.</p>\r\n<p>We are working with community to activate this whole 40-acre site and create space for many different people to enjoy many different experiences, from educational tours and quiet reflection to festivals and art shows. There is room here to nurture all facets of arts and culture in our city.</p>\r\n<p>Our impact continues to grow through a diverse range of programs. From school initiatives and 2SLGBTQAI+ events to local history walking tours and garden volunteer programs, we have become a thriving hub for local community and tourism. In the 2023/2024 school year, our programs engaged 8,332 students, including 16 full-day programs specifically for subsidy schools, reaching 223 students who might not have had access to such opportunities. These spiritual theories are often derived from the spiritual experience of the religious ancestors. The spirit of spiritual cultivation that is usually displayed in the ancestors of the monastery has been developed into a set of spiritual cultivation theories through the experience and arrangement of the monastic life. Father Vincent Lebbe, as the founder for the Patron of the Congregation, St. John the Baptist, his total sacrifice, true love for people and constant joy. It can be said that it constitutes the spiritual theory of today’s St. John the Baptist Brotherhood. It can also be called Fr.
