The club also hosts an annual Mother Daughter event for the member families of Kerr Street Ministries.</p>\r\n<p> </p>\r\n<p>Our advocacy efforts have included having a voting member on the National Action Committee on the Status of Women in Ottawa, support the You Are Not Alone program and the Zonta Says No to Violence campaign. Education programs by the club include offering an annual Young Women in Public Affairs Award to local high school students, and scholarships at Sheridan College for women returning to school.</p>", By making a donation, tax deductible, you contribute to the development of pet therapy in Quebec and you can help us continue our mission with sick children, the elderly, people with intellectual disabilities or Spectrum Disorder autism, etc.</p>\r\n<p>Located in Montreal, we serve annually over 80 schools or health and social services across the greater Montreal area (children's hospitals, nursing homes, specialized schools and camps, etc.).</p>\r\n<h2><strong>Our Mission</strong></h2>\r\n<p>Zoothérapie Québec's mission is to promote, develop and provide intervention and prevention programs where the pet is used as an agent of stimulation, motivation and reinforcement with people of all ages and from all conditions.</p>\r\n<h2><strong>Our team</strong></h2>\r\n<p>Zoothérapie Quebec stands out for its professional approach to pet therapy. Through rigorous hiring protocol, we employ psychologists, psycho-educators, special educators, social workers and occupational therapists, who integrate the dog into their practice.</p>\r\n<p>We believe in a multidisciplinary approach to pet therapy. Thus, our regular employees meet on a weekly basis to update their knowledge, optimize the use of our clinical tools and discuss difficult intervention cases.</p>\r\n<p>Our employees are sometimes accompanied by a colleague during the pet therapy activities. We are thus able to replace on short notice an employee who is absent by another one who already knows the environment and customers.</p>\r\n<p>Each Zootherapie Québec employee participates in the continuing education program of the organization. The workshops address the intervention techniques with our clients, working techniques with the dog, theoretical updates on pet therapy and on our different types of clientele, etc.</p>\r\n<h2><strong>Our dogs</strong></h2>\r\n<p>Zootherapie Quebec can count on a team of tewnty five dogs to meet the specific needs of its various clienteles. Under the supervision of our canine behavior specialist, each dog is recruited through a rigorous selection and introduction protocol.</p>\r\n<p>In addition to benefiting from complete veterinary care and continuous training, our dogs are groomed regularly to ensure our clients an intervention that meets the highest hygiene and safety standards.</p>\r\n<p>The large number of dogs that we work with allows us to only keep in service dogs that love their work and adopt safe behavior at all times. Therefore, a dog that shows signs of discomfort, fatigue or stress, is retired quickly. This ensures that all dogs are fully prepared to safely interact with the people we visit.</p>\r\n<p>We attach great importance to ethics in the management of our canine team. Our training methods are based on positive reinforcement of desired behaviors rather than punishing undesirable behavior. Each of our employees also benefits from personalized support to optimize the work with the dogs they work with.</p>\r\n<p>Finally, we are working with more than twnty volunteer families who are taking care of the dogs evenings and weekends. Une infiltration d’eau nous a révélé un mur qui se désagrégeait et qui ne soutenait plus rien! ZooQ adopte ses chiens des refuges mais l’offre actuelle est plutôt restreinte. It seeks to demonstrate the universality of these significant global issues, and challenge prejudice, intolerance, and discrimination as means of preventing future genocides and mass violations of human rights.</span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> </span></p>\r\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Zoryan Institute’s work is informed by the systematic continued efforts of independent scholars, and specialists using a comparative and multidisciplinary approach, and in accordance with the highest academic standards. </span></p>\r\n<p><b>Notable Initiatives </b></p>\r\n<p><b>Genocide and Human Rights University Program (GHRUP): </b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Established in 2002, the Genocide and Human Rights University Program helps equip a new generation of scholars to pursue research and publication in genocide and human rights studies, and practice in the prevention of genocide and human rights violations. </span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This annual, intensive, graduate-level course is comparative and interdisciplinary in nature, incorporating genocide theory, history, sociology, political science, anthropology, psychology and international law, and provides participants with the intellectual framework to understand the numerous, complex, and often emotional issues related to genocide.</span></p>\r\n<p><b>Promoting Equity, Tolerance, and Reconciliation Through Genocide Education: </b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Promoting Equity, Tolerance, and Reconciliation Through Genocide Education Program, funded by the Ontario Ministry of Education, provides secondary school students in Ontario with a foundational understanding of the numerous, complex, and often emotional issues related to crimes against humanity and genocide. The program’s use of first-hand testimonies from those who experienced genocide humanizes the impacts of genocide in a sensitive and age-appropriate manner and allows students to compare and understand commonalities in the processes and experiences of genocide, and better understand the universality of the phenomenon. By raising awareness about about the multifaceted impacts of genocide, including intergenerational trauma, cultural destruction, mass population displacements, etc., and connecting them to students' own experiences and responsibilities as citizens, this presentation helps facilitate tolerance, intellectual dialogue, and respect for human rights and dignity. </span></p>\r\n<p><b><i>Dispersion </i></b><b>Podcast: </b><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dispersion</span></i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is a podcast that analyzes and celebrates both the diverse and common experiences of diasporas living away from, and returning to, their homeland. Having published its academic journal in the field of diaspora studies for 30 years, the Zoryan Institute is excited to bring the conversation of diaspora to a new platform. Dispersion introduces important theories, topics, and experiences related to diaspora and transnational studies through casual conversations with people currently or previously living in Canada. Through conversations about identity, home, and belonging with individuals from diverse communities in Canada, </span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dispersion</span></i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> challenges stereotypes, discrimination, and aims to bring people together.</span></p>\r\n<p><b>Aurora’s Sunrise:</b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> </span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This forthcoming animated documentary, based on the Zoryan Institute’s original oral history interview with Aurora Mardiganian, an Armenian Genocide survivor, gives viewers unique first-hand insights into her story of displacement, violence, survival, and trauma. </span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is produced by Bars Media, Gebrueder Beetz Filmproduktion and Artbox laisvalaikio klubas, with the financial contribution of Eurimages, the Zoryan Institute, National Cinema Center of Armenia, Lithuanian Film Center, ZDF/ARTE, Public TV Armenia, LRT and others.</span></p>\r\n<p><b>Oral History:</b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> The Zoryan Institute has carried out multiple post-conflict oral history projects, including the ongoing 44-Day Artsakh War Oral History Project. </span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There’s a unique and critical need for oral history in order to give agency to those who lived through some of the most catastrophic human experiences, and to humanize and preserve their stories for future generations.
