\r\nL’Association des personnes handicapées de la MRC de Coaticook (APHC +), born in 1996, meets the needs of the disabled. Their mandate is to promote their interests and defend their rights. This organization oversees the project Habitations Hestia. In April 2014, is the creation of Habitations Hestia. Their mission is to provide affordable housing and related installations adapted to the benefits of people with physical and intellectual limitations, and then people who have or have had mental health problems or loss of autonomy for promote independence, stability and social inclusion.
\r\nIn addition, we want to : promote community life within the building and the management of the life of the medium by its tenants; break isolation; improve their living conditions; negotiate partnerships with government and community organizations to provide services to users of the organization; work with private and public organizations; develop therapeutic activities; be a place of affiliation and belonging that helps maintain housing; create an environment that contributes to the establishment of a positive social network, and offer guidance and support to enhance the ability to live independently housing.
\r\nThe project and services
\r\nHere community support services currently provided and defined :
\r\nindividual coaching (management of the lease, development of human capacities with public services); crisis intervention; management of conflicts between tenants; small group activities; community projects; Community Kitchen; animation of the living environment (management of the code of life, committees) and workshops on relationships, self-esteem.
\r\nSocial utility project
\r\nThe study on community housing in the MRC of Coaticook, conducted in June 2013, shows that very few homes are suitable for people with a disability. For some, this is a challenge to stay here because people are concerned, in most cases, with low-income. Some units are partially adapted in Coaticook, especially two homes in the Coopérative d'Habitation des Pins, but rents are too high or the ability to pay of these people. The life project of Habitations Hestia is in the spirit of the right to housing and the law ensuring the rights of disabled people for achieving scholar, professional and social integration. It is well suited to provide housing for all types of physical and intellectual limitations.
\r\nWhere will your contributions
\r\nIn June 2016, Habitations Hestia foresees the start of construction of the housing project, to be located near the center of Coaticook. Your donations will help the first phase of the project which totals 20 new apartments suitable 31/2 and 41/2 rooms in a building.
\r\nDonations will help the construction of this green building. The funding will help build a place to recharge and wash four-carrier, a common room and the future offices of the Association of Disabled Persons of the MRC of Coaticook. Thus, the APHC+ will be able to assume the administration of the building.
\r\nThe money raised will also go into the purchase of various building components for housing (counter, shower, toilet, wider door frames, ramps, power doors, etc.) suitable for the disabled. Pictures attached to the project show a good example of what will be done in our homes.
\r\nWhy $ 30,000 goal?
\r\nIt's just the amount missing that Houses Hestia needs as contribution of the medium amount required by the Société d'Habitation du Québec (SHQ).

\r\nVoici les services de soutien communautaire actuellement prévus et définis :
\r\naccompagnement individuel (gestion du bail, développement des capacités de la personne auprès des services publics); intervention en situation de crise; gestion des conflits entre les locataires; activités en petits groupes; projets communautaires; cuisine communautaire; animation du milieu de vie (gestion du code de vie, comités), et ateliers sur les relations, la maîtrise de soi, les habiletés sociales et de connaissance de soi.
\r\nL'utilité sociale du projet
\r\nL'étude sur le logement communautaire dans la MRC de Coaticook, effectuée en juin 2013, démontre que très peu de logements sont adaptés pour les personnes vivant avec une limitation fonctionnelle. Pour certains, cette situation représente un défi pour se loger puisque les personnes ici concernées sont, dans la majorité des cas, à faible revenu. Quelques logements sont partiellement adaptés dans la ville de Coaticook, en particulier deux logements dans la Coopérative d'Habitation des Pins, mais les loyers sont à coûts trop élevés pour la capacité de payer de ces personnes. Le projet de vie d'Habitations Hestia s'inscrit dans l'esprit du droit au logement et de la loi assurant l'exercice des droits des personnes handicapées en vue de leur intégration scolaire, professionnelle et sociale. Il s'agit ainsi d'offrir des logements adaptés pour tous les types de limitations physiques et intellectuelles.
\r\nOù iront vos contributions
\r\nC'est en juin 2016 qu'Habitations Hestia prévoit le début de la construction du projet immobilier, qui sera situé près du centre-ville de Coaticook. Vos dons aideront donc à la première phase de ce projet qui totalise 20 appartements adaptés neufs de 31/2 et 41/2 pièces dans un immeuble.
\r\nLes dons aideront à la construction de cet immeuble écologique. Le financement aidera à bâtir un endroit pour recharger et laver les quadri-porteurs, une salle commune ainsi que les futurs bureaux de l'Association des personnes handicapées de la MRC de Coaticook. \r\nFounded by Sam Sullivan in 1988 as the Disabled Sailing Association of British Columbia (DSA), the Adaptive Sailing Association of British Columbia (ASABC) strives to increase the level of independence, motivation and quality of life for people with physical disabilities through the sport of sailing. DSA's operations are based out of the Jericho Sailing Centre on English Bay in Vancouver and operate annually from May through August.
\r\nOur core program is designed to accommodate a range of disabilities and sailing skill levels. With the Sip & Puff autohelm control system and the specially designed Martin 16 sailboat at the centre of our activities, people with the highest levels of tetraplegia -- those with little or no movement below the neck -- can sail independently and in complete safety.
\r\nDSA is run by a highly trained and competent team of staff members and volunteers. We provide opportunities for recreational and competitive sailing as well as instruction for first-time, or novice, sailors.

Through fundraising we are able to ensure we have safe and effective equipment for our students and instructors. Fundraising allows us to grow our program year after year and be a successful organization in the community.
\nWhile our beginning focus was skiing and snowboarding, Adaptive Sports is looking into activities that will keep our students feeling exhilarated and free all year round with adapted paddle board, waterskiing and biking opportunities. Grâce à la collecte de fonds, nous sommes en mesure de nous assurer que nous avons du matériel sûr et efficace pour nos étudiants et nos instructeurs. \nAlors que notre domaine de prédilection était le ski et le snowboard, Adaptive Sports étend son activité au ski nordique et étudie des activités qui donneront à nos étudiants le sentiment de s’émoustiller et de se libérer tout au long de l’année avec des possibilités de planche à pédales et de ski nautique adaptées. Nous nous efforçons de fournir à nos étudiants le sentiment de liberté, d’exaltation et d’indépendance.

\r\nThe Adaptive Sports Foundation (ASF) was established in 1995 by Peter M. Treacy, a disabled skier from Knowlton, Quebec. Following an accident that left him an amputee, Peter’s dream was to start a ski school for children and adults with physical disabilities. His mission was clear: to establish, operate and maintain educational programs that encourage individuals with physical disabilities to discover new abilities through winter and summer sports.

OUR MISSION
\r\nOur mission is to offer educational sports programs to individuals with physical disabilities in order to encourage them to develop new skills through outdoor sports. We are committed to helping individuals develop self-confidence, personal motivation and greater physical strength, all within the framework of an activity they can enjoy with their family and friends.
\r\n\r\nFINANCIAL CONTRIBUTIONS
\r\nThe ASF is a registered non-profit organization, which relies solely on the generosity of individuals, corporations and foundations to offer quality programs for people living with physical disabilities. Such support allows us to purchase specialized equipment, train volunteers and to reduce the cost of program participation.

\r\nLa Fondation des sports adaptés (FSA) a été créée en 1995, par monsieur Peter M. Treacy, un skieur unijambiste de Knowlton, au Québec. \r\nNotre mission est d’offrir aux personnes vivant avec un handicap physique des programmes sportifs éducatifs, dans le but de les encourager à acquérir de nouvelles aptitudes par la pratique de sports de plein air. Par surcroît, le sport leur permet d’améliorer leur estime de soi, leur motivation et d’accroître leurs capacités physiques, le tout, dans le cadre d’une activité à laquelle ils peuvent s’adonner avec leur famille et leurs amis.

\r\nLa FSA est un organisme sans but lucratif enregistré, qui compte uniquement sur la générosité du public, des entreprises et des fondations pour l’aider à offrir des programmes de qualité à des personnes vivant avec un handicap physique. Un tel appui nous permet de nous procurer de l’équipement spécialisé, de former nos bénévoles et de réduire le coût de participation aux programmes.
