The AWO provides settlement services to all newcomers, with a special focus on women, their families, refugees and people who have experienced war and persecution. The AWO has welcomed newcomers from around the world, including Central Asia, the Middle East, East Asia, Eastern European, and Africa, assisting them in the first stages of their settlement process. These first steps taken by newcomers, finding a home, work, learning English, and finding out about Canada’s legal system and health care are all crucial to ensuring that each newcomer has a foundation for building a healthy life in Canada.
\r\nTo meet the ever-changing needs of newcomers our programming includes a range of activities that have resulted in more women and their families having access to and interactions their network of peers and an increased involvement in their communities. We offer the following services and programming:
\r\nBy supporting the foundation you are supporting AFP and philanthropy across Canada. The AFP Foundation for Philanthropy - Canada, the AFP Canadian Council and the AFP Canadian Government Relations Committee are here to support professional fundraisers in the work that they do everyday in creating “caring communities” across Canada. The important work that professional fundraisers undertake on behalf of the organizations they represent has never been more appreciated than it is today. Please join your fellow AFP members and colleagues in supporting the ongoing development of our profession in Canada.
\r\n\r\nThe funds raised through the Every Member Campaign (EMC) will continue to support educational programs and scholarships/bursaries in the Canadian chapters’ geographical areas. These funds will also support AFP Canada’s national objectives.
\r\nThe Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) Foundation for Philanthropy – Canada, exists to advance the charitable objectives of AFP through targeted funding for strategic initiatives all across Canada. The various initiatives undertaken benefit everyone, members and non-members alike, by increasing accessibility to educational programs, funding new and innovative research in our sector and conducting public educational programs to enhance the environment for philanthropy across the country.

For a very reasonable cost, we can offer the Internet without the Internet, providing access to all the information students need. One unit covers an entire school- or it can even be used under a tree in Turkana.
