The Bonnie Lloyd Memorial Scholarship Trust was established by the family and friends of Bonnie Lloyd in 1993 after her untimely death from cancer. The purpose of the charity is to provide one scholarship per year to a graduating student at St. Malachy's Memorial High School in Saint John who is pursuing post-secondary education, particularly in the arts and preferably in English or Music. Bonnie earned Bachelor of Education and Bachelor of Arts degrees, majoring in English. She also completed the Royal Conservatory of Music Grade X exam in piano.
\nBonnie was a former staff member of St. Malachy's and two of her children graduated from the high school, while the other two graduated from St. Vincent's High School.
\nFrom 1993 to 2002 one scholarship each was awarded to a graduating student at St. Malachy's and at St. Vincent's under the umbrella of the Friends of St. Vincent's High School (registered charity 891082042RR0001 at the time). Since the closure of St. Vincent's High School, the scholarship has been awarded annual to a graduating student at St. Malachy's High School. In 2005 The Bonnie Lloyd Memorial Scholarship Trust was established with its own registered charity designation with the CRA, given the impending wind-down of Friends of St. Vincent's High School.
\nAs of 2025 scholarships have been provided for 33 years and 41 students have received support towards their post-secondary studies.
