Our Mission
\nThe Cultch’s mission is to activate, engage and encourage discourse through live performance; to cultivate a wide and diverse community of artists, audiences and supporters; to build long lasting and meaningful relationships with everyone who chooses to participate with The Cultch; and to be the best contemporary cultural centre in Canada.
\nAs Vancouver’s most diverse and innovative arts and cultural hub, The Cultch has created meaningful, impactful connections across communities for over 50 years. As a presenting theatre, we curate unique, intimate, and diverse performances from Vancouver, Canada, and across the globe — offering dynamic contemporary programming in theatre, dance, music, circus, and visual arts. We host vibrant gatherings and lively conversations around the issues, topics, and ideas that are presented in our shows. We remove barriers to access by providing ASL Interpretation performances and free tickets to those for whom cost is prohibitive.
\nWe are connectors, facilitators, culture changers, and we are committed to providing the highest level of service and care we can offer. We activate this work in our three theatres—the Historic, the Vancity Culture Lab, and the York—a gallery, and various multi-use spaces in the heart of East Vancouver, as well as our Cultch Online digital presentations that reach international audiences. We welcome everyone who loves live performance into our spaces and invite them to make The Cultch their home.
\n\r\nThe Cultural Interpretation Services for Our Communities is a charitable community organization that strives to provide the highest quality cultural interpretation services in order to facilitate equitable access to health, legal, social, educational, community and other services.
\r\n\r\nCultural Interpretation Services for Our Communities (CISOC) is a registered charitable organization which offers interpretation and translation services to Ottawa’s immigrant communities as well as to the social services, medical, and legal agencies that serve immigrants. Incorporated in 1993 and governed by a voluntary board of directors, CISOC was created with the goal of facilitating equal access to community services for non-English- and non-French-speaking immigrant communities by providing high-quality language assistance. Our services are provided 24 hours every day, all year. Currently, we respond to approximately 1,300 requests for interpretation each month.

For us it’s not about fighting just one cancer, but the elimination of cancer as a whole. We believe as the experts do; that in order to truly cure cancer you have to focus on those cancers that are immune to conventional treatments, those cancers for which there are no treatments, those cancers that affect children and those cancers that are the biggest bullies. We call this the “homerun cure” and its invention isn’t new. As a matter of fact, the “homerun cure” strategy dates back to the early 1900’s when we made bold advances in cancer research, leading to the invention of surgical efforts, radiation and finally chemotherapy. But then we stopped, content to focus on treatments rather than cures, deciding to prioritize our resources on those cancers that affected the most people rather than those that we could learn the most from. The Cure Starts Now is dedicated to the “homerun cure, fighting paediatric brain cancer!
\r\n\r\nLiam is our first born child. Kind, a heart of gold, always striving to help us out and others. Intelligent, he sang the ABC's at 18 months old and was able to match letters with names and pictures. He loved learning new things and interacting with all who loved him. Passionate, engineering with his building toys; any toy or activity involving water; singing and dancing to music at home or in the car. A proud big brother to Brody and Aurora. Liam we desperately miss hearing your laugh and feeling your love. Liam was diagnosed April 12, 2017, and gained his angel wings October 19, 2017, He fought bravely against DIPG (Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma) for 6 months. His family are continuing his fight against CANCER!
