The Friendly Spike Theatre Band is a registered charity that has been producing theatrical play productions, literary works, and various art projects by and about the marginalized since 1989. Founded by Ruth Stackhouse and others, this theatre company is a community whose participants are artists, playwrights, and theatre actors who identify as disabled, psychiatric and or attempt survivors, mental health advocates, social activists, MAD, deaf, and mobility impaired.
\nOur current project is scheduled for completion by December 2026. We will be hosting a social reunion in Toronto for past and present FSTB members, their families, their friends, and participants. Offering light refreshments and a featured staged play reading of 'The 7th Floor' – written by board member Henrik Kartna, who identifies as MAD.
\n\n‘The 7th Floor’ is a community-based play that takes place in a psychiatric unit of a fictitious mental health hospital. Characters are inspired by Henrik Kartna’s real life experience. Henrik Kartna himself is a psychiatric survivor and has dealt with mental health issues most of his life. Our goal is to continue production and dramatization of this current play.
\n\nWe are notifying in kindness that we are looking for donations in any amount to assist in funding a rehearsal/workspace and to secure a venue to host the staged reading of this play.

Our mandate is to enhance the educational and interpretive programs in Algonquin Park while sharing a passion for the Park.
\r\nThe Friends of Algonquin Park was established in 1983 as a non profit registered charity. The Friends operate as a cooperating association under an agreement with the Ontario Parks to enhance the educational and interpretive programs in Algonquin Park. This is accomplished by developing and reprinting Park-related publications, and funding Park projects through the proceeds from sales at The Friends' two bookstores in the Park, private donations, and various fundraising efforts. The activities of The Friends of Algonquin are coordinated by a volunteer Board of Directors who reside in different parts of Ontario. Since its establishment, The Friends has grown to a membership of over 3000 people, and continues to attract support from around the world.

\r\nAwenda Provincial Park protects: wildlife (including Species-at-Risk) and their habitats; provincially unique landscapes and geologic features; and 11,000 years of documented human habitation.

\r\nAwenda PP is located in Tiny, Ontario northwest of the Town of Penetanguishene (2 hours north of Toronto, and only 1 hour north of Barrie).

\r\nWhy do we need your help?
\r\nEvery year we have goals of increasing education staff numbers or contract length, funding unique research projects, and donating equipment and enhanced interpretive supplies. Also, we hold events like Awenda Inspired, a one-day Art Festival, to celebrate art history in the park and to continue the tradition of Awenda Park inspired artistic expression. We want to help park users (local and far-away campers and day-use) to have an enhanced experience of discovery and a shared desire to protect this unique gem on the shores of Southern Georgian Bay.
\r\nPIECING TOGETHER OUR SHARED PAST...
\r\nA book of the complete cultural history of Awenda Provincial Park with attractive original source illustrations, documents, and photographs. 300 hours of volunteer time have been logged already in the sourcing of primary and secondary documents at museums and archives around the Province. Now we need an academic professional to weave it together. Help us make this provincially and nationally significant publication happen! (Select History Book)
