The Friends of Kalamalka Lake Provincial Park have been a registered, charitable non-profit Society since 2004. The Friends Society Board and members are volunteers dedicated to preserving and protecting the environmental integrity of the Park for the benefit of the general public and future generations.
\r\nWe work with BC Parks and the present Park Maintenance Contractor, Kaloya Contracting, to minimize destruction of park lands and habitat, to maintain trails, control noxious weeds and to protect the water quality of Kalamalka Lake.
\r\nWe educate those interested about the ecological, historical and cultural significance of the park lands, as well as the flora and fauna.
\r\nWe undertake critical projects like reducing fire hazards in the park, trail development and improvement, and work parties to eliminate invasive species like Scotch Thistle and Garlic Mustard.
\r\nWe help to fund scientific research projects within the park with the goal of preserving its natural habitat.
\r\nWe raise funds and seek grants to support this work.
\r\nWe produce the Park Trail Map/Brochure annually (in 2021 over 5000) and make them available at the Park entrances.
\r\nWe actively recruit new members who are dedicated to the intentional care, enjoyment and future of this uniquely natural and native Vernon, British Columbia gem.
