\nWe also engage in fundraising activities to support local classical music organizations, with special emphasis on Symphony Nova Scotia.
\nWe fund the Women for Music Award for Professional Development annual grant established in memory of Margaret Crickard.

In working towards this end, Women In Crisis provides temporary emergency shelter and support services 24 hours a day to women who have or are experiencing violence. Women In Crisis works from the principle that every human being has the right to live free of abuse and violence; that no one has the right to abuse another human being and that no one deserves to be abused. Women in Crisis believes that in a community that has zero tolerance for violence again women and children occurrences will decrease and eventually stop.
\r\nViolence against women has many different forms, including physical abuse, sexual assault and emotional abuse. Financial exploitation, verbal abuse and neglect are particularly critical for older women.
\r\nIn their goal towards preventing and ending violence against women and their children Women In Crisis provides the following services:
\r\nWomen In Crisis est un organisme communautaire sans but lucrative voué à la prévention et à l'élimination de la violence faite aux femmes et à leurs enfants. À cette fin, il offre aux femmes qui sont victimes de violence un refuge temporaire d'urgence et des services de soutien jour et nuit. Women In Crisis adhère au principe selon lequel tout être humain a le droit de vivre sans violence et sans peur; personne n'a le droit de maltraiter un autre être humain et personne ne mérite d'être maltraité. Le personnel de Women In Crisis croit que, dans un communauté qui n'a aucune tolérance envers la violence contre les femmes et les enfants, les incidents de la sorte diminueront et finiront par disparaître.
\r\nLa violence faite aux femmes se manifeste sous diverses formes: violence physique, agression sexuelle et violence psychologique. L'exploitation financière, la violence verbale et la négligence touchent surtout les femmes âgées.
\r\nEn vue d'atteindre son but visant à prévenir la violence contre les femmes et leurs enfants ainsi qu'à y mettre fin, Women In Crisis fournit les services suivants:
\r\nConnecting women and their families with resources to thrive
\r\nHouse to Home by WINS: With more than 120 Calgary-based referring agencies, we provide hundreds of thousands of dollars each year in free clothing, housewares and furniture to local women in need and their families.
\r\nCommunity Resource Hubs: Located in two housing complexes across Calgary and two of its largest retail locations, our Resource hubs provide families in need with a space to come together, share, and learn information and skills to move them towards self-empowerment and self-sufficiency.
\r\nWINS Thrift Stores: Through the generous donations of individuals and corporations, our 6 family thrift stores, a bulk thrift store and our online shopping portal sell affordable goods with all revenues supporting our community programs offered to women in need and their families in Calgary.
\r\nRetail Ready and Warehouse Ready: two employment services provided by WINS. The holistic approach of Retail Ready and Warehouse ready aims to empower Calgarians by building confidence, shaping values and attitudes and growing skills so they are able to find and maintain employment with the retail or warehouse industries.
\r\n\r\nWINS works with women in low-income situations. This includes:
\r\n- women coming out of shelters
\r\n- single mothers and their children
\r\n- women in transition
\r\n- new Canadians
\r\n- Calgarians going through hardships

If they can see it, they can be it. Those who identify as women and gender diverse are critically underrepresented in STEM-related fields. Students network with women and gender-diverse professionals who play active roles as presenters, mentors, and activity leaders.
\nBuilt on the foundation of 20 years of successful in-person events, the ERC’s STEMforGIRLS continues to offer programming across the province in partnership with local, regional, and national groups and communities to maximize outreach and lasting engagement. Events can be tailored for specific populations, geographical areas, or partners eager to #MakeTomorrowBetter.
