Women Transforming Cities (WTC) is a grassroots charity registered in Canada. Our mission is to transform cities into spaces where everyone can belong, participate and thrive. We do that by empowering women and girls, in all their diversity, through democratic education, community engagement, inclusive policies and equitable representation in local governments.
\nOur Mandate and Values:
\nWTC has worked across Canada and internationally for over 12 years promoting policies and programs that empower women and address gender inequity.
\nWe uniquely focus at the local level because cities, towns, communities and neighbourhoods are important, often overlooked sites to progress women’s rights and gender equity. Local governments make policy decisions that directly impact the daily lives of women, including transit, housing, childcare, land planning, use of public spaces, community safety and climate justice.Our Programs:
\nTraining & Education: We deliver training, mentoring and workshops that equip women and under-represented communities to participate in civic life or organize their own community campaigns on issues that matter most to them.
\nResearch & Knowledge Sharing: We research issues impacting women and under-represented communities’ abilities to participate in civic life and how cities can address those barriers.
\nAdvocacy & Campaigns: We run campaigns and advocacy on issues impacting women and under-represented groups including through our Hot Pink Paper Campaign, which asks candidates for municipal office to commit to implementing women’s priority policy recommendations if elected, and then holds them to account.

\nWorking with the community, to provide services and support to abused women and their children and to provide opportunities to end violence against women
\r\nWomen’s Resources works hard to ensure positive, successful outcomes for abused women who turn to us for assistance. Our services include a 24 hour, 20 bed emergency shelter and a 24 hour crisis line; short term, second stage, rent-geared-to-income housing; a range of outreach counselling and resource options including child witness, teen counselling, family court support, housing support and Vicky’s Values, our gently used clothing and housewares store. We provide the supports needed for women to make the transition from lives of fear and violence to a future of safety, security and stability.

\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nOver its 134-year history WAAC has served as a haven for visual artists, musicians, writers and devotees of the arts — a place where like-minded people can meet in a welcoming environment.
\r\nIn 1948 the WAAC launched the Scholarship Program for the purpose of supporting students in the arts. The first scholarship was granted to the Ontario College of Art and named after the Association’s founder Mary Ella Dignam. Over the past seven decades the Scholarship Program has steadily grown, and currently the Association presents seventeen scholarship awards to students at seven leading arts education institutions. These are OCADU, Sheridan College Art & Art History, Royal Conservatory of Music – Glenn Gould School, The University of Toronto Faculty of Music, Canada’s National Ballet School, George Brown Theatre School, and Ryerson University School of Image Arts. Scholarship recipients are selected by the institutional staff most familiar with student work and excellence.
\r\nLocated in Toronto’s beautiful Annex neighbourhood, the heart of WAAC is a charming 19th century house that backs onto a lovely formal garden. The main entrance opens up into the Mary Dignam Gallery, a large, attractive room that hosts openings, receptions and, of course, members’ art exhibitions. It is also the venue for our lectures on the arts and concerts. Many of these events are open to the public.

Women's Brain Health Initiative is a charitable non-profit providing education and funding research to combat brain aging diseases that affect women. We rely on philenthropic gifts to support this endevour.
