Youth Employment Services Manitoba (YES Manitoba) provides free, inclusive employment and education support services to young Manitobans between the ages of 16 to 29.
\r\nBy creating responsive programming and services that empower youth and provide a safe(r) and supportive environment where they can learn new skills, develop confidence in themselves, and feel supported during their transition to employment.
\r\nTo create opportunities for youth to become engaged members of their community through developing their employability skills, helping them gain meaningful employment, and exploring further education and training. Our purpose is to prepare youth in realizing their potential to become self-sufficient and contribute to our province’s growth and prosperity.
\r\nYES Manitoba provides comprehensive one-on-one support through our through our dedicated team of Employment Facilitators. We also provide access to reliable computer systems with internet; connections to employers and direct training programs; assistance with résumé and cover letter writing; job searching support; interview preparation; career and education exploration; and assessment of and training in employability skills and those life skills that help find and maintain employment.
\r\nWe provide free in-house workshops and presentations for participants; provide community workshops and information booths, offer free training including CPR/First Aid, SmartChoices, Food Handlers, and WHIMIS; referrals to other agencies for assistance, and participant advocacy.
\r\nYES Manitoba is also proud to be the contract holder for the Futures Forward program, which provides free, wrap-around, and holistic supports for youth transitioning out of the child welfare system in Manitoba, with a focus on obtaining employment and/or accessing post-secondary education. Like all of YES Manitoba’s services and supports, Futures Forward programming strives to be participant-led and tailored to individual needs and unique barriers that each youth faces in their employment and education journey.
\r\nThrough our Education Program, we also offer dedicated career development programming to Manitoba high school students ranging from grades 9 to 12. We deliver workshops and presentations that directly link classroom learning to workplace and labour market realities throughout the school year.

One had taken notice of his brother teaching his mother English language skills. He was shocked by how patient and clear his brother was, and equally important, how quickly his mother was picking up the language. It wasn’t as though she hadn’t tried before; like so many newcomer adults, she attended local English as a Second Language programs but often felt lost because of the quick delivery of concepts, the facilitators’ inability to speak their students’ native languages, and the cultural gap. But in the safety of their homes, these same adults prospered, quickly picking up concepts from their children.
\r\nWith this in mind, those two youth galvanized other young people in the area and, in less than two weeks, independently developed a curriculum, secured a local program space, enlisted countless participants, and launched a program called Youth Empowering Parents (YEP).
\r\nSince then, the program has flourished. It has grown to over 80 locations across 5 countries, impacting thousands of people. Young people, ages 9 and up, volunteer to teach English, technology, musical instruments, financial literacy, health and physical activity, environmental skills, and many other day-to-day life skills. Tens of thousands of “at-risk youth” have collectively delivered over $3 million in private tutoring value, whilst simultaneously improving their communication, leadership, empathy, and professional skills.
\r\nYEP has been recognized by several media outlets across the world, and has received distinguished awards, including an innovation award from the United Nations (personally delivered by Secretary General Ban Ki-moon).
\r\n\r\nOrganizational mentorship
\r\nYEP supports local grassroots organizations who are working to improve the lives Black and Indigenous persons. You can also make a donation directly to support either of these grassroots initiatives.
\r\nDeveloping Black Educators (DBE) is a grassroots group aiming to inspire an increase of black students into the education profession, and cultivating their success. More than 50% of the public school student population is nonwhite, but less than 20% of teachers are racialized. Importantly, there has been a decline in the number of black teachers over the past decade. DBE provides coaching and one-on-one training to black high-school and post-secondary students, with a goal of developing more black educators and black role models for the future generation of black students.
\r\nYouth Empowerment and Support Services (YESS)’ Youth Support Centre is a 24/7, single-point-of-access to immediate and low-barrier physical, mental, cultural, and emotional health supports and a safe place to stay for youth aged 15-21 who are experiencing crisis in the Edmonton Metro Area. The Youth Support Centre also host Monday to Friday Resource and Health Hubs with physical and mental health clinics and youth-supporting resources to ensure youth 15-24 get the help they need, when they need it.
\nOur focus is on building strong collaborations with our Youth Agency Collaboration partners to leverage what each of us does best, to create more effective processes, outcomes, and opportunities for youth.

\r\nOur program strives to improve the quality of life of persons with disabilities by providing a physically and intellectually exciting and challenging introduction to flight.

\r\nThe purpose of Freedom’s Wings Canada is to bring the world of soaring to disabled persons by:

\r\n * Exposing persons with disabilities to the soaring experience
\r\n * Teaching qualified persons with disabilities to soar
\r\n * Providing facilities for soaring to those persons with disabilities able to soar
\r\n * Providing training for instructors, ground crew, and flying students
\r\n * Providing a non-profit educational and fraternal organization
\r\n * Serving as a resource and model for other organizations with similar intent
\r\n\r\nWe are a consortium that was formed in 2003 to provide and administer a flight training program which will offer opportunities for persons of all physical abilities to experience the freedom of sailplane flying or soaring and to become educated in the operation and control of such aircraft, with a view to eventual certification where possible and practical.

\r\nThe Board of Freedom’s Wings Canada is made up of 2 representatives of each of the following organizations; The York Soaring Association, Youth Flight Canada, K. W. Access-Ability and two representatives from the community of persons with a disability at large.
