We are YYZ Artists’ Outlet.

As artists, our practice is in an ongoing state of beginning. Since 1979, our mission as an artist-led platform has been to offer the space for our community to show, share, and grow—to experiment, push boundaries, and keep evolving.

Our gallery will always and has always been the place for Canadian and international artists to display the most diverse and exciting range of their work. Entry is free. We look forward to seeing you at our space in 401 Richmond.

Artists must be given the space to try something new, and then the space to show something new. We believe that artists are always in a moment of starting something new, whether that expresses itself in a new medium, new idea, new place, new boundaries. The artist-run center is a site where artists can engage the public with contemporary issues too contentious for the mainstream, paving the way for opening discourse and challenging notions of the normative. YYZ Artists’ Outlet is committed to providing opportunities to find new modes of expressions, and that’s why the gallery, publication, and archives exist to serve those principles—to remain and grow as a forum for the most diverse and exciting range of artwork in the past, present, and future.

Help us fund artists' work. To be an artist has always been a precarious form of labour; to be an artists’ outlet and publisher has always been a tenuous form of self-organizing. We are acutely aware of the risks of being a space for artists in the way that we are. We know what risks existed in the past and know enough to understand we can’t know what risks await us in the future. Seeing our peers and fellow platforms fall prey to the increasingly unstable nature of our industry has made us even more committed to our mission, and it has made the impact of your donation even more vital.

ZAB MABOUNGOU/COMPAGNIE DANSE NYATA NYATA is a unique contemporary dance company on the Montreal and Quebec scenes. Its artistic director, a choreographer, thinker and renowned performer Zab Maboungou, has asserted her firm commitment to produce her choreographic works, throughout the world, on and off stage, to teach the techniques of African dance, to support dancer education, develop audiences and take an active part in the institutional renewal of policies concerning the arts field.

Zab Maboungou/Compagnie Danse Nyata Nyata was founded due to a deep vocation for art, for creative works and their role in society. Together these two aspects make up the backbone of this arts organization, whose mission is to create choreographic and musical works, but also literary and didactic productions based on its commitment to develop the art of contemporary dance, not only in terms of creating and producing shows, but also encompassing the full range of artistic development activities (research, training and education, creation and production).

After 35 years of tireless work in creation and teaching, the Company has earned an enviable reputation both in Québec and abroad. The works of Nyata Nyata are recognized for this strong and manifest alliance between the physical and intellectual levels, and even the spiritual one. This sets its creations apart. Inspired by artistic and cultural action inseparable from the choreographic works driving it, Zab Maboungou/Compagnie Danse Nyata Nyata’s entire organization and activities play a part in creating a hotbed of creation and renewal.

Les œuvres chorégraphiques, musicales et dansées de Zab Maboungou/Compagnie Danse Nyata Nyata s’appliquent à faire ressortir la puissance poétique, inséparable de l’intelligence du geste, qui se dégage de l’art du mouvement, des corps et des rythmes. Les distributions des pièces s’élaborent au sein d’un groupe de danseurs et de musiciens de différentes formations et origines.

Après 25 ans de travail laborieux dans la création et la formation, la Compagnie a acquis une réputation enviable tant au Québec qu’à l’étranger. On reconnaît les œuvres de Zab Maboungou/Compagnie Danse Nyata Nyata à cette alliance forte et manifeste entre les plans physique et intellectuel : voire spirituel, qui ont fait sa marque. Educational scholarships recognizing resilience in youth living with loss after the passing of a loved one.  Initiated by the families of Zach Sutherland and Kaya Firth, who passed in a tragic kayaking accident at just 21 years of age. Kaya and Zach lived their lives with passion, connection and purpose and the foundation is dedicated to fostering these same qualities in youth experiencing grief.

Our Mission

At Zajac Ranch for Children we believe that camp is a life changing experience that every child deserves.

\r\n

Mission: To develop and operate an accessible, innovative and full-service facility that welcomes children and young adults facing chronic, life-threatening and/or debilitating conditions.

\r\n

Vision: Provide camp experiences that empower children of all abilities to participate, foster the development of life-long skills and independence, and create lasting opportunities for friendship and fulfillment.

About Zajac Ranch for Children

\r\n

Each year, with the support of our volunteers, staff and donors, we offer 500 young people with chronic, life-threatening and/or debilitating conditions the opportunity to attend our camp and to just be a kid.

\r\n

The barriers and limitations that our Campers may experience day to day are all but eliminated thanks to our fully accessible facility and our specially trained staff and volunteers. The activities our campers can take part in include horseback riding, high and low ropes course, a climbing wall, swimming, canoeing, kayaking, archery, arts and crafts and much, much more.
