Yorktown Shelter for Women provides a safe and secure haven for women and their children fleeing an abusive relationship. Staffed 24 hours a day by a multilingual and multicultural team the shelter is committed to the well-being and empowerment of women who have been abused and to the healthy development of their children. 

Beyond a safe and secure transitional shelter for women and children the Shelter offers residents a range of programs to help them regain their independence and integration into the community.  Yorktown Shelter for Women staff members are also involved in a wide range of community education and outreach activities to educate and support abused women in the community who not yet ready to leave an abusive situation for refuge in a women’s shelter.
