Give today to support Asian Canadians

The horrific murder of six Asian-American women in Atlanta, GA, is yet another example of the increase in anti-Asian racism in North America since the start of the pandemic1.

In Canada, we maintain the identity of a multicultural society, inclusive of all Canadians and welcoming all immigrants. However, the experiences of Asian Canadians tell a different story. Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, there has been a significant rise in hate crimes against Asian Canadians — with some major cities reporting an increase of up to 700%2. Three months into the pandemic, it was recorded that 24% of East Asian Canadians living in Vancouver had been the target of racial slurs or insults3. Even before the pandemic was globally declared, Asian-owned businesses in the GTA were boycotted— some saw a drop in business of up to 80% due to discrimination and misinformation4.

Racism in Canada against Asians is not a new phenomenon. Many Asian youth experience bullying in school, and bias and discrimination continues into adulthood. For example, researchers found job applicants with Asian names are 45-60% less likely to be selected for interviews5.

The Asian Solidarity Fund is an opportunity to support Asian Canadians, celebrate the contributions of the Asian community, and stand up against intolerance, prejudice and injustice. To help your support go further, P&G Canada will donate $3 for every $1 donated up to $400,000.*

Your gift will support charities offering social services, promoting arts and culture, leading anti-racism initiatives, providing education, and much more. Your donation will be pooled with others to help achieve wide-reaching effects and will make a real impact. Plus, you will receive an official charitable tax receipt to qualify for tax credits! Donate today to take a stand with Asian Canadians.
