We invite you to our 5th Annual Pink Shirt Day Breakfast present by TELUS, taking place February 27th, 2019. It's Okanagan Boys and Girls Clubs kick-off to kindness in the Okanagan. Join us.

For the past four years, we have hosted a breakfast on Pink Shirt Day with the goal of not only raising awareness of how being kind, caring, resilient can benefit the over all health of our community, but also raising funds to run our programs and services encouraging and teaching kindness, caring, resiliency, empathy, and understanding.

This year we are excited to have Janice Taylor, the founder and CEO of Mazu, a Kelowna-based family social media messaging and content platform for children and families. Janice is a social entrepreneur, mother, inspirational speaker, author, and online safety advocate. After a long journey from her roots in Saskatchewan, Janice has emerged as a pioneer in solving the growing epidemic in Social Media. She has a Bachelor of Psychology, Honours Thesis Option and spent many years studying the impacts of addiction on the human spirit. It was from her research focused on self-esteem and self-efficacy among women that she sought to create a solution to the issue of social media addiction and how it was affecting women, children, and families. This 9 year journey in the wild wild west of technology startups she has created a solution that will Awaken Families with love. During this time, Janice has developed an innovative platform to solve the growing issues in social media around the mental health of children and youth with a focused on early childhood prevention and nurturing children both in real and digital life. Janice has started the campaign of Love a Million, designed to bring over a million children out of harms way. Here is a sneak peak for what the morning message will be.

Your Story Matters: Clues to your Purpose

What if we flipped our story over from the dark side to the light? What if one could discover that your story contains all the clues one would need in order to become who we were always meant to be?  Through a process called Ahava, created by Janice, she helps move individuals on their healing path from trauma to their true purpose.  As a vulnerable child and youth, Janice understands the impacts of those scarcity roots and addictive patterns. It is from these roots that she will speak to the clues of her own destiny and apply them today so that others can find their true calling.

Okanagan Boys and Girls Clubs is a leading provider of programs to children and youth that support the healthy physical, educational, and social development of more than 10,000 young people and their families each year. We have been helping young people discover, develop, and achieve their potential since 1959.
