Footwear Campaign

Stepping Out for Foot Health

Our region has one of the highest rates of amputation due to the complications of diabetes in Canada.  Lack of sensation that is often one of the complications of diabetes and improper footwear are some of the main contributing factors that can lead to amputation.  Providing access to footwear to those who are at risk could work towards prevention.

We aim to raise awareness and launch a fundraising campaign to secure the funds needed to purchase appropriate footwear for those in need.

Together, we can make a profound difference in the lives of individuals managing diabetes, changing lives, one step at a time!

Giishkaandago’Ikwe Health Services’ Footcare and Diabetes team will be at the Lakers game Friday November 15 to share information and collect funds for to support both our local footwear campaign and also the large regional campaign.

This is not just a fundraiser; it's a movement to transform lives and promote how appropriate footwear can prevent an amputation due to complications of diabetes. By joining forces, we can make a lasting impact on diabetes health and support those in need with the essential footwear and care they deserve.
