A Place Called Home is working on the front lines assisting the homeless of the City of Kawartha Lakes and County of Haliburton.
Over the past month we have provided support to many people who are affected by homelessness and COVID-19. When one doesn’t have a place to stay at the end of their day, couch surfing or staying with family is not an option during a pandemic. Currently we have 30 individuals we are supporting in motel rooms and seven in our shelter. This is the only way to ensure physical distancing for those we serve. We are also supporting an average of 10 people per day who are at risk, with porch pickups for food and other basic needs.
We are actively working with both the Municipality and Kawartha Haliburton Pine Ridge District Health Unit to ensure our client’s health is monitored and that they receive nutritious meals every day to help minimize the risk of contracting or spreading the corona virus.
It is no surprise that with the ongoing crisis, fundraising for agencies such as ours will be impacted. We appreciate every dollar donated by our supporters and work to maximize their use.
Help us to continue in our work helping those in need. All funds raised through this campaign go directly to supporting our emergency shelter.
Thank you for your support and generosity.
