Action Saint-François (ASF) brings together citizens concerned about the environment.
Shoreline cleanup : For 27 years, ASF has been cleaning up waterways in the Estrie (region of the province of Quebec). To date, nearly 600 metric tonnes of waste material has been removed from the banks of more than 80 watercourses. More than 80% of the residual materials collected (metal, plastic, glass and tires) are recycled.
Planting near the shores : ASF organizes revegetation activities for rivers in Estrie. 35,000 plants have been planted since 2007! These activities have made it possible to develop shorelines, protect wildlife sites and offset greenhouse gas (CO2) emissions. ASF thus promotes the stability of flora and fauna, in addition to contributing to the sustainable development of human activities.
Education : ASF is also working on prevention. For four years now, the organization has been carrying out environmental education and awareness activities for the population. In 2015, we presented our first Salon de la Nature : 35 nature kiosks, 15 conferences, 2 quizzes and 2 stories. In 2016-2019, we presented our conferences À Prop'EAU. These are conferences whose themes are the protection of water and the environment.
Participation of the population : ASF has always worked to raise awareness of the various environmental realities. All our activities are focused on citizen participation. We believe that through concrete actions, volunteers become aware of environmental issues more easily and more sustainably.
