To build an ethical culture of science that respects animal life, we are supporting elementary and secondary teachers and students in adopting non-animal alternatives for dissection (e.g. virtual dissections). Many great non-animal alternatives exist, and they often provide superior learning experiences (as evidenced by an academic literature review we conducted). Alternatives are also less costly for school budgets, and provide safe, inclusive educational experiences for students. In contrast, dissection necessarily excludes certain students if they want to opt out for personal, ethical or religious reasons.
Help us to end the inhumane, and ineffective practice of dissection in Canada.
