Acadian Cottage Fund

The Acadian Cottage (also called 'la Maison acadienne') is the focal point of our Acadian garden, a very special area in the Annapolis Royal Historic Gardens. Our Acadian section represents a 1671 time period, when Annapolis Royal (Port Royal) was very much a centre of Acadian life and more than 80 years before the deportation of 1755.

The Acadian Cottage was built in the early 1980s as a reconstruction of a 1671 Acadian house, based on local archaeology. It is in constant need of maintenance, and in particular at this point it needs a new roof as well as some other smaller repairs. In addition, we have dreams of developing and enhancing this area further as funds permit. All these things are beyond our normal means as a non-profit charitable organization.

For these reasons, we have initiated a special fundraising campaign for the Acadian section of the Gardens. All funds raised in this campaign will go towards maintaining and enhancing this truly special area within the Annapolis Royal Historic Gardens. If we exceed our campaign goals, extra funds will be held aside for future needs in the years ahead.
