About AUTISM SOCIETY CAPE BRETON
Autism is a complex neurobiological disorder.
It happens in all levels of society, knows no
socio-economical boundaries, and affects all
facets of a person’s life. Approximately 1,500 Cape Bretoner's have autism and it is four times more likely in boys than girls.
Autism is characterized by impairment in three areas of development:
Communication (Verbal and Non-Verbal)
There is little known about what causes autism and no known cure although treatments are available.
