The Bach Elgar Choir is Hamilton's renowned concert choir and a leader in Canadian choral music. The ensemble performed its first concert in 1905 and since then has become essential to musical life in the region. BEC's productions are, every year, among the most thrilling and essential classical music events in Hamilton. The BEC's concert season features magnificent works for choir and orchestra, its cherished annual presentation of Handel's Messiah, as well as programs of diverse vocal repertoire. Featuring the very best Canadian talent in its roster of soloists, and working together with top orchestras, the BEC has a reputation for excellence.
However, each year our government funding gets reduced and fundraising has become a vital part of the choir's function. Hiring orchestras, soloists, venue rentals, music, insurance etc. all comes at a cost, that also seems to be increasing, while our funding decreases. We have begun to rely on private sponsors and donations for each concert year, just to be able to provide a memorable and enjoyable experience for our audience. We appreciate all donations and support, for that is what allows our choir to continue to sing! Thank you!
