For some, the world is quiet and on pause; and for others, the world is chaotic and resting on their brave shoulders. As for our learners, most of them rely on part-time or practicum work as they study to pursue their career. Bow Valley College students are diverse: they are parents, they are newcomers, they are born-and-raised-Calgarians, they are Indigenous. New to the workforce or on to their next career path, our students are inspired and motivated to contribute to Calgary’s economy and community.
Due to COVID-19, a significant portion of our student body is struggling financially and unable to pay for basic necessities like food and shelter. To address this growing need immediately, we created the COVID- 19 Response Emergency Financial Need Bursary Fund.
The COVID-19 Response Emergency Financial Need Bursary Fund is open to all students with demonstrated financial need. We select applicants based on demonstrated imminent need due to COVID-19 related financial issues such as expenses, income, family support, lack of employment opportunities, and personal circumstances.
It is critical that we support our students through this strenuous time, so that they can continue their education and become more resilient to financial hardship. We need your help to continue being able to give this emergency aid to our students in the current and upcoming months during this worldwide health crises. Thanks to our donors, our students are able to access emergency funds quickly to buy food for themselves and their families.
With your generosity, you will be helping our students complete their education, so that they have the kinds of learning experiences that prepare them to be employable right at graduation as nurses, pharmacy technicians, legal and medical assistants, and in many other fields that support our economy.
