Calgary Cares Boxes

A COVID-19 Summer Relief Campaign

Ensuring our most vulnerable and at-risk children and youth are not forgotten

As the province plans to reopen and with the first day of summer on June 20 fast approaching we know the impact of COVID-19 will be far reaching and long lasting. That is why the Calgary Police Foundation is working hard to ensure that our vulnerable and at-risk children and youth continue to receive the support they need and are not forgotten.

The Calgary Cares Box Campaign. a COVID-19 Summer Relief Campaign, is underway. This campaign provides Calgarians an opportunity to donate funds to help fill care boxes that contain everything our children and youth need to get them through the summer months safely. The children and youth that access the Programs funded by the CPF face many challenges, which have been exacerbated by COVID-19 and for many these include poverty, food insecurity, unsafe home environments and mental health issues. These care boxes will not only help to meet their basic needs, keep their spirits high, and encourage safe fun, but they will also let these young people know that we are here to support them and their families through this difficult time.

Based on the needs identified by our Program Leads, boxes will include items such as:

  • Technology – including USB sticks, laptops, phone cards, chrome books
  • Activity Kits – including games, sporting equipment, puzzles, books .
  • Wellness Packages – including toothpaste, toilet paper, shampoo, conditioner, feminine hygiene products, multivitamins, blankets, flashlights, cleaning products
  • Food Packages – including canned goods, pasta, soups, peanut butter, and grocery/department store gift cards.

With your donation, we will purchase the necessary items to assemble Calgary Cares Boxes and will use locally sourced goods and establishments whenever possible so we can also support the local economy. We would also encourage anyone who wants to purchase physical items for the campaign to buy local and to contact us at to arrange delivery of your donation. Together, we want to help the entire Calgary community cope with COVID-19 and ensure that our most vulnerable and at-risk children and youth are not forgotten.

Donate today to give a Calgary Cares Box to a child in need!
