There’s no other team quite like us...
From our roots as the first special hockey organization in Waterloo Region, we’ve come a long way in a short time. In 2006, the Cambridge Ice Hounds comprised of a few families looking for a place where their child could play hockey just like any other. A few short years later and now more than 85 families with special needs children and adults with developmental disabilities call us ‘their team’.
In a magical old barn...
There’s something to be said about playing hockey in a rink like Galt Arena Gardens in Cambridge, Ontario. We’re lucky enough to do that every Saturday afternoon from September to April right before the Cambridge Winter Hawks take to the ice for their weekly hockey ritual. The Cambridge Ice Hounds logo shines up through the ice with pride as our players skate out across it with smiles on their faces as they play Canada’s game.
Playing on the community’s team...
You’re not just a player on the Cambridge Ice Hounds when you join our organization. You become the team. Run by a dedicated group of volunteers, the Cambridge Ice Hounds is a volunteer-based, membership-led organization where the interests of each player on the ice are paramount above all else. Fully backed by the City of Cambridge, the Cambridge Ice Hounds are a registered charitable organization where funds raised go directly back to the team to support player development and programs.
