For over 90 years, Camp Hermosa has welcomed hundreds of children each summer to it's tranquil setting to build friendships, self-confidence, and a deeper relationship with God. The Alina Carere Bowlathon raises funds for the Camp Hermosa Bursary Fund, which helps families who otherwise couldn't afford it to send their kids to camp.
Alina came to camp as a child. The friendships and sense of belonging she experienced brought her back each summer. Her connection with Camp Hermosa deepened as she completed the Leader-in-Training program and began volunteering as a cabin leader. Her willingness to act crazy, laugh, sing, and cry endeared her to many, but most importantly to the children she cared so deeply about.
In June of 2009, the first Bowlathon was held - an event orchestrated to create a fund for economically disadvantaged children to attend camp. Alina was recognized as the top fundraiser.
In October 2009, Alina lost her life following a tragic car accident.
When you donate, you are helping to support the children Alina hoped would have an opportunity to have a life-changing experience at Camp Hermosa.
** This year, due to physical distancing, we're encouraging backyard bowling!
1) Get creative and send us pics or videos of how you and your family are bowling from home.
2) Share this campaign page with friends and family to raise funds to send kids to camp.
100% of your donation goes to ensuring that every child has the opportunity of a week at camp.
